qlink has "low/high" values. why not midi cc?
"low/high" parameters help to make more specific and exact qlink entries.
this is my only problem with qlink edit, too - there are no ways to set "low/high" parameters.

The values send with midi CC are from 0 to 127, that's why, i guess.

we could still get some kind of low / high range, like low being 75 and high being 127 if the only values i'm interested in are 75-127 in that particular motion.

hmm...let´s stay on the midistandarts.
it´s a nice to have because of the resolution is better, but i think i´ve never seen before on other machienes...

what? no i don't think you understand.

for qlink, you can set a ceiling and floor range for how far you want to go.

ie, if i wanted to do a filter sweep but not from 100-0, rather from 85-40, i could set the parameters to have that as max and min

i want to be able to set similar qlink top/bottom measurements too.
am i crazy or are people not understanding this?

I get you on this i think - I'm assuming you mean setting a high and low range in the same way that you would set velocity layer settings? Correct?

If so this is a good idea and should be fairly easy to implement i'd imagine.

look at that picture where it says LOW and HIGH
-120 low
+120 high

if that was on filter, not tune, it would say 0 low, 100 high
for midi, it SHOULD say 0 low, 127 high. you could set the LOW to any number up to 127 (in this example we'll say 60) so that when you move the qlink all the way down, it's at 60.

this isn't the same idea as velocity layer settings (different screen altogether), although you can set velocity layer using qlink

if people aren't using this they're sleeping...this is how you create a rolling bassline, ie put your bass on qlink tune realtime and HIGH at 0, low at -50. record a sweep and you get a bass that starts at 1 note and goes down a fifth.

yep i agree and it does make sense

it is not non-standard::
my ex5 does a form of this (limiting knob range)
and i think, my remote25 also does this on a per-knob basis.

it is most useful!

Def would be much more expressive if you could limit the cc values going out.

+1 :)

hes saying limiting the range of values to those that are useful to the application. and yeah, i see the usefulness of this idea.

sleepersriddle: what do you think of the ex5 yo? what do you use it for?

well its a great sounding machine... performance controls are great (3 wheels, touchstrip and 6 knobs), nice keyoard

otoh its kind of a bi**h to program but I've had it for a long time so Im used to it now.

its internal sequencer and arpeggiator has crap timing, though, so stay away from using those.

Its a good cheap alternative to your tritons and what have you; probably the rompl'ing is not quite as up to date but the included VL and AN engines actually go beyond those machines in many ways for real 'synth' type sounds, which i like.

i use it for quickly filling in tracks on the song im working on (bass sounds, piano sounds, organ, guitar, and especially synth)... often i will keep those or maybe i will redo it later with another vst or module, but its my old friend so it makes a good quick 'all in one' sound source.

cool. im about to buy an an200 for the morph feature. just wondered what that one was like.

Ha Ha! yes...........

Almost as soon as i hit "submit" I realised my above post was total rubbish.!

I was rushing out to watch the football and spent the whole game thinkng about this - it would indeed be a very good and welcome addition - I control feedback depth on an external effects unit and it would be great to limit the amout of midi sent in one Q-Link pass Ie - 30 High, 0 - Low

My brain kind of spazzed out earlier,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

yeah so in effect you limit the values given by the Q slider to the sweet spot of whatever youre tweaking. good stuff.

Would it be possible to ahave a larger amplitude for q-link parameters, especially for filter. If you need to filter some sound in real time (with LPF)-50 on the slider is too short to completely filter the sound or you have to preset the filter parameter to 55 or 60, but then you loose the highest frequencies.
The only way is to put slider to +50 in the begining of the beat (to get the highest) and the you can filter completely. But it would be easier with -100 on the lowest q-link filter parameter.

Peace...
