Yea, I guessed already you're talking about the continuous sample tracks.
Don't you think the description "audio track" is a bit misleading, as all the "audio track" does is to allow you to stop your audio sample immediately? Besides, in your argumentation it would be a MIDI track as well, cause it saves MIDI note data that triggers an internal sample just as well
I never really gave a secong thought to how Akai's audio tracks work. But the audio tracks do more than just allows you to stop audio immediately. With an audio track, you can start the sequence at any bar, and the track's audio will play back at the right time/position. MIDI tracks are completely different. If you start the sequence after the MIDI note which triggers a sample.,,,the sample will not play.
SO whether you find this useful or not is another story, but there is a difference between MIDI and Audio track.

then i humbly and cheerfully change the statement from tidier to refer to both optimization (relative filesize compared to feature inclusion) and more bug free. i'm no coder so my terminology is all 2nd hand.
however, the same logic and points still all apply, even more specifically now.
objectively, if you're holding all bugs equal, like a tally, then the jj os has more "bugs."
if you're being more than objective about it, the akai os has MUCH more serious bugs. it's not just a speculative rumour that the akai os freezes on new folder creation. it's a recognized problem that is fixed in both the free and in the obligatory-donation os.
Now, you will have to let the audience know which OS you are talking about. You can't possibly be talking about the unofficial JJ OS for the MPC 2500. I lost track of the numerous bugs and bug fixes for this OS. Akai's first official OS has been as stable. But I am just speaking from my own 17 month experience with using the MPC 2500. (an MPC with the official RAM, CDM-25, and approved hard drive...this brother don't cut corners

).
Now directly addressing serious bugs...you have to own an MPC 2500 and use an MPC 2500 to talk about whether it has serious bugs with a particular OS. The freezing of the MPC 2500 that you read about was an issue between the MPC's OS and its hard drive. It seems like it was due to the hard drive being 'asleep' from what I read. I experienced this once a long time ago. I never had this problem using the CF card reader/writer. Now I haven't come across this with the JJ OS, but the JJ OS crashed my MPC several times using the input thru function. Numerous basic functions..malfunctioned. If I was a professional, the JJ OS is not something I would use during a paid session...not today. I am not fully confident that all the bugs are ironed out. However, Akai OS 1.22 has been solid for me. But because I love staying in this forum talking about the MPC 2500...I use the JJ OS.
Antonym, you have been a huge JJ fan from the start and you also hate Akai

So your opinions are biased like a mother. Now anyone hanging around this forum from the start know that I never held back my feelings about the Akai OS. I have no reason to mislead or misinform anyone about these operating systems.
