I consistently use real time pitch, and jjs simultaneous sequence. Don't get rid of those.

it would be amazing to have midi CC in to q link...

i reckon you would only be able to control only 2 settings. just same as with the qlinks.

what more will you be doing with this feature? appart from moving to knobs on your controller instaed of moving the 2 qlinks ?

just curious...

in a live set i need to have all my track assigned to knobs so i could control fades in fades out...the same for the filter the decay.
the true reason is live performing for me. another one could be for studio work(automations via cubase and the mpc become a true hardware sampler).

sysex could be wonderful too.

didn't you ever try the machinedrum (elektron)or tr 909 or something with knobs (analog synth)?

it would be nice to make a poll to know which fonctions are trully usefull for a majority of users?

did you understand my previous post ? "cc to qlink" won't let you do that. there are only 2 qlinks.

so you will be able to use only 2 knobs on your midi controller, to control 2 settings.

what you want is something like cc to mixer levels, cc to filter cuttoff, cc to decay etc... per pad. a much more ambitious feature in my opinion.

oh, btw, since you ask, i only use my mpc for livesets, and with analog gear actually (x0xb0x and polyevolver rack). mpc as 6 mono out going thru a mixer, using sends for effects, analog filter, evolver audio in blablabla :P

i oppose any inteference with the audio track feature. its really handy, i use it extensively with my synths. as it is now it works fine. i w0uld hate to see this dissappear considering how good of a feature it is.

Antonym wrote:guys, i just had a good idea that i think might really do some nice things for people who like patch phrase and people who like chopped samples.

what if the 2 become combined? in doing so, jj can remove the code needed to do PP, and instead, do this:

1 - load sample
2 - chop sample
3 - PROMPT: place in track
4 - sample is inserted into the track as chopped

explanation: each sample note is placed into your sequence plays in sequential order, estimated to the nearest tick of when it would have played originally.

this would be as if you entered the sample manually after chopping - just both extremely accurate AND faster. it'd also be the same as a patched phrase with a lot more individual control, wouldn't it?

opinions?

As far as i understand, you want to take patched phrase out of the mpc the way it works now? so people would not be able to start a patched phrase by pressing a pad anymore? if so, NO WAY!

yeah - it'd be in the sequencer instead. much more powerful.

first of all that video is not realtime timestretching, at all, so keep that in mind.

and you could do what they are doing, even easier. WAY easier.
qlink sliders set to tune and TRACK. all you do is set the high and low and then hit play. slide the qlink to desired position, top or bottom.
this way you can even get a bend going on, not just sudden pitch change.

not to mention, this way, you can actually alter the nature of the PP, as in what plays when. you can have the PP play normal several times, and in the last run, it can play with note order reversed (not sample themselves reversed.)

I use audiotracks when, i'm starting on a new song, with audiotracks it's fast to record and listen to what you've done over your groove or whatever... Audiotracks works fine for me. ofcourse it could be great if they would loop through song mode..

I use Patch Pharse, not a feature that I would like to see go away. If Antonym's idea can be programed. I would like to see a version that we can compare to the PP. Then decide before just deleting PP as whole.

I have used the Yamaha Motif ES keyboard sequencer and it uses chopped samples in almost exactly the way Antonym has described, it is pretty cool BUT IT LACKS THE SPONTANEITY OF HOW THE MPC INSERTS PP PHRASES INTO TRACKS BUY TRIGGERING PADS. I for one do not want any thing to happen that would change the way the pp works now. It reminds me a lot of how Abeltons Live works. I do have a sort of work around for when I want to insert samples with note data into a track. First I chop the sample into even slices, 16 th, notes or whatever works best, use the create auto program to place the slices into a program. Then I use the auto step record mode in grid edit to place my samples on specific steps, 16 th notes for a single measure loop, 8 th notes for a double measure loop. It’s not perfect but it works for a lot of the samples that I use, and they’re in stereo.

Also it seems like there are a lot more bug reports on the forum lately. I wish everyone would chill on the new feature ideas and lets get these bugs FIXED!

That's funny you just wrote that about the motif, I was about to write that the korg triton's have the same chop (to sequence) feature that Nym is talking about-- Which I used to love, BTW.

There's some fresh tricks I did using that feature... Like when you chop/autochop a drumbreak real accurately, and then send that to a sequencer track. I would sometimes end up just using the sequencer data, and replacing most of the drum hits with different drum samples! True definition of a groove template...

I would hate to lose PP, but damn that chop to sequence sounds incredable! The samples would still be in stereo, and being able to swap samples using the sequence as a groove template... WOW! One thing is, even if JJ removes something to add another feature, you can always choose your favorite OS for any specific project...

Antonym!? What's up with using the retired name?
