The nature of what it is trying to do is what makes it not accurate... kind of like when you are trying to manually chop a sample that has no definate transients and you are not sure exactly where to chop it. Auto chop, by nature, is a function that is better performed by humans than by a machine.

That's not true. ReCycle does it just fine and do do SoundForge and numerous other programs out there. The only reason that it doesn't work on the MPC might be that it otherwise might take a too much computing power.

I don't use auto chop , I'd only end up tidying it up anyway - might aswell do it the ' long way '.
I reckon , to echo CommanderRobot , free up some code !

but ... then again , that's easy for me to say...

I'm sure JJ will tighten it up for yuz ,
he's gunna run out of things to do soon

i don´t use auto-chop either, since i think its not really accurate at all
you will always get better results by doing it yourself
i really would prefer kicking it out and add other features instead.

like a FADE-function in TRIM-Mode
or MIDI-access for functions which are accessed by the Q-Sliders, that i can connect an external midicontroller and controll filters or samplestarts of single pads or tracks! would be a real killer!!!

well, dreaming again

nah i think we're going well so far, it looks like a move has been started from classic program mode to the new one...i think all the features are in global program edit now, there's ntohign you can't reach anymore i'm pretty sure...

hopefully old prgrm mode will go the way of the dinosaurs.

Wrong thread?

However, i hope pgm mode will stay, the whole edit screen is already cramped to its limits imo.

Noone ever bothered?

I've discovered the same many versions ago. The way to avoid this is to NOT zoom out after you've trimmed your last slice. That way it'll be fine. But yes If you zoom out and F2 it, all the slices will be earlier than wanted..

A bug, but not Vital if you do it my way...

I like the view of old pgm mode and i really hope that it will never be removed..

I Don't like Autochop as it doesnt work as it should, not sure if i would use it if it did though... I like to do it manually by selecting how many slices and all that...

i understand that. i like classic automobiles from the 40s and i'd drive them all day long, but my 99 civic goes a lot faster and i can do more with it, quicker...so i really can't afford to keep my model T...so i'd have to sell it...

we still don't have pitch modulation in global program edit...
i would agree to remove the classic program edit if it's replaced by a killer function (not like real time pitch shift or audio track in grid...(i still can't understand what's the use of it, it would be great if it could become a multitrack looper like the boss rc 50 or something...))

but i think that i have what i need on my mpc, don't really need improvement...bug fixes are fine. anything else is luxury...(i bought the mpc for what's it is, not for what it could become...)

Okay, i've just realized that my "don't-zoom-out" technique for chopping samples doesn't work in the newest 3 or 4 versions of the OS... Have you reported the issue yet?.. I'm having a hard time trying to explain it.

my chops seem to be on point, not coming in to early at least.
