Im classicly trained, and the reason why half of those say it is simply through ignorance that they dont know.. but its not all of them not the true artists and creative people they down with it.
And u just dont get it when it comes to this. wait till u urself develope processing skills that u become proud of and develope ur own style of "sound", then maybe u'll understand. Because u dont know how much work goes into it properly, and obviously dont and wont understand untill u do and u take the time / put the work in urself.
End of the day.. some one asked how to get drums soundin fat, then he refered to some ones style because his dont sound close, what would be the better thing to do... actually put it how it should be so he can "LEARN" and be able to do it himself.. or advice him to take another route which isnt gonna teach him anything.
And u cant say "can flip hiphop drums make them ur own", coz u dont have to do nearly as much to turn them into propa bangin hiphop drums compared to when u sample from multiple sources, layer.. and all ur processes u have to do to get them workin coheisive together,, and then shape ur over all sound.
