Swoop,
Let me give you the best advice that I can give anyone! Keep all of your gear....if possible! Gear is like $100 dollar bills....the more you get the better off you are. I hear so many people say that they regret getting rid of something that they once had! I understand that life deals some bad luck at times and you need quick cash to take care of something, but my gear would be my last resort.
So many folks play the "swap and buy" game too much. EXAMPLE: I have a vinyl record collection that's almost 10,000 albums strong. Everytime I wanted new records, I didn't sale the old one's to get new one's! I added to my library! I even see dudes buy gear brand new, then sell that same gear six months down the road for a fraction of what they paid, just to buy something else new! That's retarded!
I'd keep my MPC if I already owned it...then add to it like you have done! There's no such thing as one piece of gear that does it all...or an "All in one"...."stand-alone" unit! It will always lack in some feature you will need or want! By you having both a MV & MPC....you got the best of both worlds or the right tools for any job!
Having said all of that, Your workflow on the MV will speed up with time! I'm still learning shortcuts and I've had mine for over 2 years! At first, I couldn't chop up a quick sample and make a beat on the MV, like on the MPC! Now, it's the other way around! The MV is a beast too!
Long story short....keep em' both if possible!
