Rechargable batteries.. they just don't last

I've been using rechargable nicads in my MPC500. With these I'm lucky if I can get more than an hour or two out of them without even having the lcd light on. Worse still, they take about a day to charge. So yeah, back to normal cheap alkalines in future, as they seem to last a lot longer. 5 or 6 hours from the first two sets I had.

Anyone else had similar poor performance from rechargable batteries?

I have used the Energizer NiMH 2500mAh rechargeables with no problems.
I would use anything but nicads and alkalines. You can't go wrong with high powered NiMH's.

Thanks for the info, I might have to give some of those a try. How many hours do you get from your 2500mAh Energizers?

Varta 2500mAh NiMH here. Rapid charger charges them in like 30 minutes, they last about 4 hours with backlit on.

That sounds good. Might have to look into buying a rapid charger also.

dnt use nicads...use nimh....nicads have a memory if u dnt let them fully die you'll actually shorten the life of the battery

Yeah, the nicads I've been using are the ones that came with the charger. I never realised before that there was that much difference between nicads and nimhs.. Oh well, now I know! Thanks for all the replies.
