Well, you might be right....i heard the record selection aint to hot in Florida...out here its crazy, San Jose, Berkely, Oakland, San Francisco...10 record stores in each city that are guaranteed to have some good shit. And if your ordering vinyl on line that kinda hampers everything and youll be paying more for the good shit.
As far as the MS2000 goes, it pretty much covers all my synth needs, basslines and a couple of pads, what really pops it off is it doubles as a full blown analog effects board...so you can run any sound/sample/drum through it, twist a couple of knobs and its unrecognizable...i got mine for $500 used off a eBay, it was in perfect condition. It definitley wont give you that shiny Ruff Ryders sound though.....And if you plan on basing your production around synths I'd probably go for the Motif...Hope that helps.
Dont forget that alot of these sounds are available in the sound exchange as well. So all you really might need is a midi controller.
