Just some mv info wanted ? don't start the nv vs mpc sh&t !

Simple question to those that have the MV. I'd ask on the mv forum but I'm waiting to be regitered. Pls no mpc vs mv stuff, I don't give a sh&t.

I just found out the MV8800 has the same effects section as the old roland sp808ex.
That product was crap for serious work but the effects section was so good it was worth the money alone. Beat the crap out of some rack mount units I have used too.

Here is that fx section so I can just check it's the same as MV.

Anyways can you check for us as I can not find theffect list anywhere on line.

What I really want to know is this.

How does the automation of effects work in the sequencer ? can you automate all parameters and is it as good as some DAWs such as ableton.

I would also like to know how the midi is working out. If I wanted to hook up a HW synth, can I trigger it with midi and record the audio in the MV and will I be dealing with latency if I do this ? If I am , does it have lateny compensation like most DAWs ?

All of the above EFX are on the MV, plus Roland added in a few more. There's several vocoders, record static, and the Bass Modeling within the EFX block also. I know there's a few more, but I can't think of the names right off!

You have 3 main efx processor blocks to insert your effects or stack them. The MV has the Multi-EFX, Delay/Chorus, and the Reverb which makes up the three separate blocks. You have the default presets on them and also a user section to save your tweaking and re-name if you choose!

The automation is done on the screen, but the actual faders or knobs do not move free-handed when the automation plays back!

The midi works fine for me, but many others feel the MV doesn't have enough outs, which is understood, but usually when I need more...I've moved my tracks to DAW anyway, so in my case...I can work around it. Other producers need more outs....so it's a judgement you'll have to make on your situation and workflow!
The MV has 1 midi-in, and 2 midi-out ports. The midi-outs support 16 channels each giving you a total of 32 channels. If you have the R-bus expansion card (MV8-0P1), you have additional capabilities.

Sounds like it is the exact same processor as the sp808 had the bass modelling synth too as part of the effects. It was great for routing samples through as you got to use the lfo and chorus and flanger in the fx chain.
It did also have a small graphics 16 step seq old skool style

Thanks again and can anybody clear up whether I would experience latency when routing audio from a synth recording into the MV if it was also being midi seq by the MV.

Latency= the delay until sound is audible.

I'm no Guru on the results with the MV and I have no scientific measuring equipment to back what I'm saying. So with that said, do more research or even go test drive the latency in a gear store if possible.

What I have found [under severe circumstances] is that the MV's latency is around 3ms with midi devices. When I say severe, I mean extra long midi cables and gear across the room while transmitting midi messages at 0000:00:045 frames past zero (or very beginning of the track). Again this is under severe circumstances. You can set pre-count measures on the MV (like most midi gear) to any length of bars and that usually fixes that problem. It's only when I set the pre-count to zero (or none) that I notice the 3ms delay.

As far as the visual latency while using the monior (VGA card) it's pretty much "dead on." You can expand or close the track scroll display. The more you expand it the faster it scrolls. At the fastest scroll setting...it seems kinda off, but it's moving so fast... who can tell what's going on!

Again, do more research!!
I'm in the middle of building a new studio and really haven't put the MV through every test that I will be using it for, so ask around!
