mechp wrote:Mindcontrol- You keep claiming that since Hip Hop is a culture, and is not directly tied to commercialism, it is not adversely affected by theft. Let's dissect this claim in a little greater detail.
First what is a culture? According to wikipedia it is product of an individual, group or society of intelligent beings, specifically art, music, science as well as moral belief systems. In Hip Hop's case that's graff, rap, b-boying and djing and they were all arguably founded in the effort to escape the stress of the soul-crushing poverty of the projects in NY in the late 70's.
Now let's assume you, the consumer, don't pay for the pieces of the Hip Hop culture you consume. Where does that extra money needed due to your lost revenue come from? That's right. A day job. While you may have never heard of these before, they are what real adults get to do things like put food on the table and buy gear to make hip hop with.
It's not a strenuous logical leap then, even for someone of your apparent meager mental capacity, to conclude that less money from Hip Hop leads to more "day job" and hence less energy at the end of the day to invest in the dope songs you don't pay for. Not only that, but you are adding to the financial stress of the artist, thus actively working against the defining belief system of Hip Hop.
Why is that hard to understand? More importantly why did I just waist so much godd*mn energy on a canuck?
Without support, nothing will flourish, and that goes for any item.
