Don't like your mpc 500's pads?

if that's the case, pm antonym and ask him to make some for you!
he made some new pads for his mpc one kay pad fix that were according to him and an other guy to be much more soft than the original pads. and considering the fact that the 500 and the 1k uses the the same dimensions on them, all you'd have to do is just cut off a row of pads!
it'll cost you 25 bucks, but having better velocity should be very well worth it.

my 500 pads works fine for me, no complaints

I thought that the 1000 had individual pads while the 500 had a sheet of them. Not that it would matter a whole lot.

Does he do any work on the sensor? or is it just a softer pad?

I love my pads for drums, not so much for keys. My Korg PK is much better for keys and melodies.

I like the 500 pads too, I noticed they get looser after some use. I feel there really is some 'breaking in' involved, the pads get more softer with time. Which is good, because they are a little stiff at first.

Yeah, they're good enough for me too. I'm guessing they've used the same pads on the MPK49 also.

the antonym pad fix pads are all on one sheet, just like the mpc 500's pads.
if the 500's your only mpc and you're gonna use it for a while, you owe it to yourself to get this. you'll get way better velocity response with pads that are softer than the stock akai mpc 500/1000 pads.

what i will do is build a mold of the 500 pads that is if i can order some off vst. i'll make a mold of the pads themselves.

they'll be fairly exact replicas, as opposed to my mpc1000 pads, which were based on a mold made by a million small measurements and careful cutting.

this is all very very possible but also it depends on how busy i am with the roughly 5 thousand other things i have to do on the regular.

due to softer, thicker rubber, they will yield a more delicate response.

just got my MPC500 yesterday. I have to say that I'm used to the Padkontrol and these pads are really hard to trigger for me. The PK pads you could almost trigger by breathing on them.

I'm keeping an open mind though, just because I'm used to the PK doesn't mean it's better.

new here, been lurking a while. have appreciated alot of the ideas/help everybody's shared. bought an mpc-500 for the second time this week, after having to sell my first one, before having a chance to get to know it, after a killer heating bill in january.
i used to have a handsonic from roland, so i was spoiled far as pad response goes. i find the 500's pads to be pretty stiff...
SOOOO, last night i hooked it up to my padkontrol, which i was going to sell, and: happy happy joy tappin'!!! highly recommended...if u already have one or if u can pick one up on the cheap on ebay.
on the road/outta the studio(& i wouldn't ever wanna miss this): mpc alone.
at home, maybe doing more subtle parts or for long sessions: mpc + kp midi'd up.

or buy a couple thimbles?!?

funny, I was just thinking this last night. why not just use my beloved padkontrol with the 500. then, no problems. I can surely use the 500's pads when I'm in a bind, but the majority of the time I will be around both...

still interested in the pad modification though earlier discussed. especially in cool colors...

Yeah .. Im gonna try and keep my PK also.

Honestly I like the pads on the 500 for beating on drums. But the pads on the PK are soooo much nicer for playing notes and chords with instruments. Plus the lights give great feedback. It really does help my timing.


How did you guys map the PK to the 500? Just a different Korg Scene for each padbank on the 500?

That would be sweet.. you could have access to two padbanks at the same time.
