No, that's not right!

I've purged 300 samples once and it took maybe 5-10 minutes realistically...closer to 5.

Purge has always been slow even on the Akai OS. I even remembering having it freeze quite often on the Akai OS while purging. 2 hours isn't right bro. I think your machine is frozen if it's still on that screen.

It's definitely some kind of software issue. I think purge hangs on certain sample types as well. Or if there is something messed with your sample files it may do that. I think I remembered having some messed up files that kept making my 1k freeze on purge.

I'll just sum up quick. Something is definitely wrong, and it could be a variety of reasons, and not necessarily an OS issue per se.

When I have to Purge a lot of samples (20+), I just click 'PURGE', then put the 1k aside and do something else. Maybe it has something to do with the RAM, Because I don't use the original from MUTEC.
Once, purging took so long, I forgot to save the beat after purging finished and almost turned my MPC off. While I was pressing the power switch down, I realized, "ahhhhh f"§$%&/(), you didn't save yet!" So I just held it down the switch with my left hand and saved the beat using the right on some first aid steez. ;)

yeah definitely. i just figured some people didn't know about this quick way to clear/refresh and that they'd just delete the progs then hit purge, which is a more time consuming process.

you know what else is funny. you try to correct me like i am posting some ****. but then you say the **** above.

let me ask you a question. what other kind of sample can the akai handle then. As far as I know it can only handle one type. 16 bit 44100

so your comment is complete ****

whoa kind of an over reaction there. i didn't see him say nothing other than to try and help you, and you jump down his throat on some nonsense?

Po'pimpin, there's a language barrier at work here.

"No, that's not right!" = slang for "that is not normal MPC behaviour"

He's not saying you're wrong, he's sayin there's something wrong with either your MPC, the samples (corrupt files?) or the OS.

Aight, no prob.

The others got it right as far as what I meant 100%.

As far as the 16 bit 44100 khz samples...yes...I mean something could be wrong with the samples themselves, like they could've gotten corrupt or something. I know because it happened to me until I just got rid of those offending files, which were files I downloaded off the internet BTW.

I owned the 1k twice. 1st time around I bought the real deal Akai Ram. 2nd time around I bought some generic kind that just fit the specs. Purge takes the same amount of time, and I've noticed no differences at all between the different Ram as far as performance is concerned.
