DrBob wrote:I own serato and love vinyl. I love vinyl for the way it feels on the platter, the lp cover and the history. But, and it's a big but for me. The tune itself is the most important thing. That’s why I love music. Ever looking for that different and fresh sound for my ears. Serato or Vinyl is a secondary issue for me. It's a tool! It doesn't make you a better dj. If you want to go as far and call it "LAZY MANS DJ'ING" then we are referring to the lugging around of vinyl and the place and replace of vinyl on the platter. That's less arm work not brain work.
The big advantage for me is...you have a rare record. You want to play that tune out but your worried. No problem serato can come into play. Not only that, but you now have 2 copies at your fingertips whilst the original stays all snug in the protective sleeve at home. In my opinion that just seems sensible. Just to throw serato users in to the LAZY box is a little bit shallow. I think, like many other users it's a case embracing all formats and tools to there own.
I think if you take a look at this list you'll see that lots of respected vinyl DJ's have embraced serato. Have they now lost your respect because they use serato??? http://www.scratchlive.net/djs/?dj=beat+junkies

that's just my take on it.....
the guys that i looked up to use it BAM, HERC, FLASH ,NO i dont think they are LAZY they just do alot of traveling and they make there own music ,so serato as a production and to get your own music out tool is
ok,
but to BITE yes i said BITE, cause i sent many many many hours diggin for record for a set i play some thing you dont have you then go back and down load it taken songs from my set LAZY,
i collect records and have done so for many yrs, and my records sound just as good as it did when i opened it, the main thing is to maintain your RECORDS and they will last for ever. even past digital media.
AS IT WAS SAID ABOVE IF YOUR A BEGINNER LEARN THE FUNDIMENTALS
FIRST, IT WILL MAKE THAT MUCH BETTER.
