the 1000 forum has a feature request post, so now it's time for ours. here's some of the requests that i've been asking for from the beginning, most of them stem from me having had the 2000xl for so long and the 2500 lacking features which made the 2000xl so user friendly.
1. in load screen, only F5 ("PLAY") should audition samples from disk, pressing pads should play the sounds loaded in the current program. this is essential if you're loading drums and want to make sure that they match the samples you've already assigned to pads.
2. in trim screen, the speed at which you spin the data knob should determine the amount of steps the end points take regardless of what zoom you're in. slow spinning will adjust end points by 1, spinning a little faster will adjust end points by 10, faster by 100, even faster by 1000, etc. you shouldn't have to hit zoom 10 times just to adjust an end point by 1 digit like in the JJ OS, and you shouldn't have to hit shift + cursor to adjust an end point by larger numbers like in the Akai OS.
3. in trim screen, pressing pads 1 - 12 should play sample as one shot (mono) rather than note off.
4. in step edit, add a view called "Current" which will list only the events triggered at the current step. so if you're at step 001.01.48, it will only display the events triggered at 001.01.48. events triggered between 001.01.00 and 001.01.47, and between 001.01.49 and the end of the sequence are not shown. also, save the view so that it doesn't have to be selected each time the mpc is powered on.
5. add the ability to punch in record while a sequence is playing.
6. add the ability to step edit from the main screen (i.e. pressing record or overdub in main screen and then pressing a pad will record that pad to the current step).
7. add direct recording on any track like the 2500's Akai OS. i don't find audio tracks useful at all.
8. save TC on power off.
