MPC1000 RAM and CF card Recommendations

I use with my MPC500:
SanDisk Extreme III 2 GB

Thank for this post.. actuallyi thought that the only ram that worked on my mpc was the original akai ram.. But i am confused.. There is only two "harddiscs" on the mpc 2500 : the RAM memory and the CF card right?

The hard disk is a storage device (which mounts into the HDM10 adaptor).
The CF (Compact Flash) is also a storage device which is considered "removable storage".

The RAM is different. What is loaded into the RAM does not stay in the RAM when you power off the MPC. This is why the storage devices (Hard Disk or Compact Flash card) are needed.

I hope that clears up any confusion you may have.
This information can be found in your user manual.

Do I need ECC or non-ECC Memory? Does it matter when using the MPC?

Only had the MPC-1000 for 3 days and I am already struggling with the 16MB of onboard memory.
Ordered a stick of Kingston 256MB today.
It's simply a must!

I just ordered that very memory today from Amazon.
Fingers crossed it should work.
I'll keep you posted if you're unsure whether to go ahead and order.

I got mine in the post today and installed it with ease. I saved over £80!! Kingston gets my recommendation. No doubt.

Still waiting on this to come back.. I bit the bullet and sent it out 2 weeks ago tuesday.

Recently bought a stick of kingston valuram all specifications of the ones recomended here and am getting the 8c000000 error upon a memory check at start up. This is the second stick in a row to do this so I am highly doubting a faulty stick. Anyone have any ideas on this or know of anything about it?

Recently I got:

Samsung 512 MB RAM.

Looks like it works fine - on startup the MPC500 displays 128 MB. There wasn't 256 MB what's why I get this one.

Sure, 256megs can be had cheaper, but it was a purchase from a real person from a real company with a good exchange policy. If you live in the Cincinnati area, Microcenter has this in stock.

Do you have to use pc 133 or would pc 400 work too? I couldn't find this matter anywhere in this thread.

Yes you must use SoDimm PC 133 anyway sodimm does not exist in PC 400
I use Kingston KVR133X64SC3/256 (Sodimm pc133 Cas 3 256MB) priced about 35$ it works perfect,i also got 1 GB RIDATA CF
