Thank for this post.. actuallyi thought that the only ram that worked on my mpc was the original akai ram.. But i am confused.. There is only two "harddiscs" on the mpc 2500 : the RAM memory and the CF card right?

VerzaBeats,
The hard disk is a storage device (which mounts into the HDM10 adaptor).
The CF (Compact Flash) is also a storage device which is considered "removable storage".
The RAM is different. What is loaded into the RAM does not stay in the RAM when you power off the MPC. This is why the storage devices (Hard Disk or Compact Flash card) are needed.
I hope that clears up any confusion you may have.
This information can be found in your user manual.

Do I need ECC or non-ECC Memory? Does it matter when using the MPC?
I Have found this one at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-ValueR ... B00006BT1J
Has anyone else used this RAM before?
Can anyone tell me if this is good to go for my new mpc1000?
Thanks

Ok guys...when you start messin with 'MULTI'-samples...layered textures of the same sample...real instruments like STRINGz n thangz & All that stuff (Not just one-shot drum hits or even str8 up loops)...
you will come to KNOW the reality of the fact that more memory is NOT just a Luxury or the preserve of those with a little more cash than others...BUT a bloody Necessity!!!!
Trust ME....
Sparq & Penfold speak True Wizdom...Y'heard!!!Now go cop some Cheap So-Dimms!!!
(See 'Antonyms Sig)
Only had the MPC-1000 for 3 days and I am already struggling with the 16MB of onboard memory.
Ordered a stick of Kingston 256MB today.
It's simply a must!

I just ordered that very memory today from Amazon.
Fingers crossed it should work.
I'll keep you posted if you're unsure whether to go ahead and order.
Will take a few days to arrive.

I got mine in the post today and installed it with ease. I saved over £80!! Kingston gets my recommendation. No doubt.

They called me last friday and asked that I send my memory card after they replaced the clip.. To test thier work. SO I sent it.. Today he says: That piece: quote="Penfold"]I my self have installed:

Today he says he's going to check it out using ANOTHER memory card from a round the shop. Hello >>? Why'd I use more money sending you mine ?
Anyway I've splintered this topic into the 500 forums here...

Recently bought a stick of kingston valuram all specifications of the ones recomended here and am getting the 8c000000 error upon a memory check at start up. This is the second stick in a row to do this so I am highly doubting a faulty stick. Anyone have any ideas on this or know of anything about it?

Recently I got:
Samsung 512 MB RAM.
Looks like it works fine - on startup the MPC500 displays 128 MB. There wasn't 256 MB what's why I get this one.

Hey all. I found another memory type that works with the mpc1000. It's Lifetime Memory Products pc133, 256meg 144pin. A link:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0222309
Sure, 256megs can be had cheaper, but it was a purchase from a real person from a real company with a good exchange policy. If you live in the Cincinnati area, Microcenter has this in stock.
