Any way to RESAMPLE on MPCs?

PLEASE HELP

Basically, I want to run the stereo out of my MPC 2500 through a Korg Kaoss pad, and record the new sample, with effects, back onto my MPC. HOW CAN I DO THIS?!?! I've been having trouble with this for a while. Right now, I'm just working with a turntable, denon mixer, korg kaoss pad, and my MPC.

Easiest way maybe to send your mpc through the kaoss pad into your pc. Record signal into your preferred audio software and then save as wav file or akai readable format. Then import back into your mpc via cd, usb or cf card.

Sounds longwinded but if you are doing several samples for a set, then this would probably save you lots of time (and frustration!) Once inside your pc, your signal can be mangled in further ways with things like slicing taken care of by Recycle etc...

This is how I would do it.

Yeah, but he might want to use the MPC's effects to mangle the input signal.

Mixer out to record ins on MPC.
Go to record page and select analogue for the mixer (or dig if it has it) and sample away.

Alternatively, use the record ins and select input thru (switch it on), select MAIN OUT on sampler page (mode pad 5) and use the filters and effects to resample the incoming signal.

OK, thats definitely a possibility. However, I was more wondering if there was a way to accomplish this solely using my mpc and kaoss pad. I'd rather not bring my computer into it if possible.

Your computer isn't into it.

all you have to do is have the line out from the sampler going into the 'record in' inputs on the back of the MPC. Then, you run the sampler 'line in' connection to a mixer channel.

Finally, you go to the 'record' function on the MPC and set the output to main out. Then you should be able to do whatever it is you do with the kaoss pad to play the sample and then you can record it in the MPC exactly how it's coming out of your sampler, effected and all.

I do this kind of thing all the time...

One setup for this:

MPC main outs into Kaos pad.
Korg Kaos pad into mixer (if you plug the Kaos pad straight into your MPC record ins then you'll have to mess about unplugging/plugging wires when you decide to record some samples from your turntables).
Mixer outs into MPC record ins left and right.
Go to record in MPC.
Change input to Analogue.
Hit play.
Hit record.
Done.


What I normally do:
MPC main outs to mixer channels 9 and 10.
MPC separate outputs 1 and 2 going into mixer channels 1 and 2.
Mixer channels 1 and 2 have a compressor in the insert path.
Assign my mixer channels 1 and 2 to group channel 1/2.
Group channel 1/2 outputs go into my MPC record ins left and right.
This way, I can hear the main outs AND the separate outs 1 and 2 from the MPC all at the same time, but only the group channel 1/2 is actually being recorded.
If I want to give a bit of bollocks to certain pad sounds through my compressor I assign the outputs of those pads to channels 1 and 2 then go to record, change input to analogue, hit play, then record.
Boom!

This is one of my many routing scenarios. I have kept it very simple just to give you an idea of the routing possibilities.

Mixer: 24 track A&H GS3 with 4 group channels. You don't need such a big mixer if you're only using an MPC and your decks, but you may find your creative flow expands if you get a mixer like the Mackie onyx 1220 which has 12 channels and a separate (alt) mix send output. (Soz to drop a brand name there). This may be overkill for you though? Just givin suggestions. Enjoy
