the funny thing is akai could have avoided all this crap easily. instead of just fixing the pads, they should also have upped the internal memory, replaced that plastic data wheel with something more sturdy, improved the sliders a little bit, and replaced that tiny processor chip with something with a lot more room to expand the OS. then they can just call it the "MPC 1010" or something & maybe charge a little bit more for it.
instead they are releasing the new pads in new stock units for the same price as the old MPCs, yet making previous customers pay $200 for this 'upgrade'. new customers get what we should have had all along, while the rest of us get screwed.
