the funny thing is akai could have avoided all this crap easily. instead of just fixing the pads, they should also have upped the internal memory, replaced that plastic data wheel with something more sturdy, improved the sliders a little bit, and replaced that tiny processor chip with something with a lot more room to expand the OS. then they can just call it the "MPC 1010" or something & maybe charge a little bit more for it.

instead they are releasing the new pads in new stock units for the same price as the old MPCs, yet making previous customers pay $200 for this 'upgrade'. new customers get what we should have had all along, while the rest of us get screwed.

I have also emailed Akai UK with the pics.
Would like an answer to why I was lied to on the phone yesterday.
There clearly is a design flaw!
Why would they be supplying new machines with different pads if there was not?
*****!

the answer from akai germany was: because the old pads are no more produced. :D

That's what I mean too! "Upgrade?" Hardly! I can't believe that they're trying to profit off of the eff up! This is not an opportunity to capitolize on, this is a chance to finally, after all these years make things right.
Thanx for emailing them. Lets see what they say. Please keep us posted.

Then my next question is, why don't you make those pads anymore Akai? :D

Did you find a better way to make pads? A way that you used for all the other MPCs? Maybe? Do YOU make the pads that are on the new MPCs? And why did the US Akai tell me that the new pads aren't on the new MPCs? Are all you Akai departments on a different page? Do you have inconsistant product?

Just some thoughts that pop in my head. Can you email them again with questions similar to those? We need to keep applying pressure.

Thanx bro! Good work!

i wrote another e-mail.

i told them:

-all mpc1000 users know why the old pads are no more availbl.
- im not ready to pay for their mistakes-
-i do all i can to make their products called unserious if they act wrong
- i give the advice to this forum
- its a case of warranty

problem is: it takes a lot of time until the situation on the market is the same like in US (until they sell new mpc with new pads)

and i know in germany we have to pay much more then you guys.

for example: single replacement pad costs 28,90€

x16=462,40€ x2=924,80€ = a brand new mpc1000 :twisted: :twisted:

and there is no kit option for 16pads.

grrrrrrrr.

@rb v 2 : in the netherlands they said to me that they are currently importing the padfix.. so that will take major long.. i think i'mma go to the akai importer of the netherlands and just ask for a new mp at the time the new mp's arrive with the new pads..

it's just like i'm so amazed, and akai got it monopoly position on-lock.. i mean i love my mp, but akai on the other hand...

hereo; keep up the fight!
nym; i could totally switch, it makes sense but...
thats way to much work for me.
filterthing; they should lower the price. i really think that should not be a profit item for akai. after the pads were1)developed2)created3)labeled4)shipped etc...they were still less than 100 bones, i mean come on right.

i'm a few months out of warranty but i'll give em a call and double check. but i will buy the pad upgrade at some point, otherwise.

[email protected]

here's the guy who told hereo that new mpcs do NOT have the pad fix factory installed

how about everyone send him a nice email telling him that he needs to check his data
i also suggested that akai sends their best writer to the forums to actually talk to us
surely they're not all too busy frantically working out bugs in the mpk or whatever that silly keyboard controller is that they paid stott scorch to say was "amazing'
