on the new black mpc's

They feel pretty different to me. I think the pads are straight lifted from the 500, I mean, not only the feel, but they also seem smaller than I remember from my old blue and red 1000.

Also, the qlinks seem a little smaller. The back panel, as has been mentioned elsewhere, is black and not metal.

Is this stuff just my imagination (been a while since i used a 1000 out of guitar center) or has anyone else noticed this?
