indeed, the redmatica joint is crazy if you have a mac, the extreme converter is dope and his support is like none other, you make requests, he tries and most of the time gets them implemented very quickly.....best translator program in my opinion

Will it make AKP programs? I read up that is it mostly for Logic`s EXS sampler.

I don't think the redmatica will make akp files, but the extreme translator will, or you can use both and use the translator to convert to akp from exs...

I don't have a mac so i can't use it, but I watches some vids on it, it looks very nice, but the proggramer from esc is looking to incorporate some of the similar features like auto slicing and pitch detection.....

Toy Piano it is! Still hunting around for some good samples....I got a few but they are either extremely grainy or too few individual notes....

Working on it. There's basically two ways to do this:

1. use the sample as an F-1 at 44.1 khz and tune it by -23
2. use the sample as an F#-1 at 48 khz and tune it (as well) with -23

The second method will yield a slightly better tuning.

What's nice about having the samples at 2048 sample length is that you can easily 'transpose' an octave by making shorter samples that are exactly half the lenght. So you'll get an F#0, F#1, F#2 etc. Because it's a nice multiple of 2 you won't get all sorts of weird artefacts from halving the sample like that.

I'll do some programming tonight and set up an APK template and I'll show you how it's done in Soundforge (it's better to make a short looped sample for each octave)....

Here's a template I made for the single cycle waves...I first set their 'rate' to 48.000 and made double speed copies of them (by resampling to 24000 and then resetting the sample rate to 48k Hz again)....

Al samples are 'tuned' as F# at this rate and needed a little fine adjustment (-23 cents for the tuning) to get them as close as possible to the correct pitch.

It's a simply screaming square bass...Enjoy!

I understand what you did with the sound, but exactly how can I implement this as a template, replace the wavs with my own? Do they need to be tuned and stuff like you were talking about in the advanced sampling thread?

Yes, you can replace them with your own: the tuning and mapping you can use. OF course you do need to make 'half size' copies of the sample (those will be a octave higher every time you do that)...just look at the individual samples and you'll see what I mean.

All I had was some very grainy (and short) samples of a Toy Piano so I did the following: I made a 2048 sized cycled loop from one of the files (it's actually two cycles)...off course Soundforge doesn't let you 'stretch' or 'shrink' a loop to a certain size (not in terms of sample numbers) so I had to do a little creative 'resampling'....First I pitched the sample all the way down (4 octaves) untill I had a clean bass sounding sound, then I found the part I wanted to loop, cut it out and by using 're sample' and resetting the the base frequency of the sample I managed to make a loop of exactly 2048 samples with the basic timbre of the piano.

From that I built the other F# keys and I put those in the Akai. Mapped it (using my earlier SmoothSquare as my template)...I used two detuned versions of the sample single sample to give the piano it's chorus like sound (classic trick) and added a short untuned 'attack' portion from the original file.


Voila:

haha, man, i'm just trying to soak up the knowledge, i've yet to even get as deep as you, with the resampling and single cycles and such, but i'm very interested, as soon as I come up with something i'll let you see it....
