Do I have to buy XLR to phono plugs to get a line in?

Yeah, because I tried to get a line in through the phono jacks, put the switch on line in and it's a no go. It works perfectly fine connecting a turntable directly and putting the switch on phone though. I did see in the manual that it said to connect ONLY a turntable to the phono jacks, but I can't flowers believe it.

It did say this in the manual regarding the REC IN XLR jacks: "Mics or line level devices such as CD players can be connected to these jacks. Either XLR or phone plugs can be connected"

How are phone plugs to be connected to those? The only way I can see is if I get an adapter or cable that goes XLR to phono.

I'm not stupid, but this just threw me off. I've never owned or used anything with an XLR jack. Well it looks like I'm going to have to make a trip to radioshack tomorrow...damn!

theRCA inputs only take phono level signals, and the XLR conbo jacks take, Xlrs and regular 1/4 inch jacks.

Sup Reveal...Thanks again! I didn't know those XLR jacks take regular 1/4 inch jacks...it just didn't look like you could do that. It looked like you could only use a male XLR there, but I plugged in the 1/4 jacks and it works fine....you just saved me some $ and some hassle. Thanks again!

hey I picked up a nice little $10 lead that has big tough 1/4" jack plugs on one end and phone plugs on the other, joined as a stereo pair. It works perfect cos I can sample thru my mixer and still cut the samples using the x-fader.....I like the option of having that tidy RIAA phono pre on da 4k but it pissed me off not being able to skratch or cut....

Recently I have been running samples or keys thru my mixer and using the x-fader to cut the sound...some interesting effects....

Why didn't they mention the 1/4 inch plugs in the manual? I looked and looked. I sampled records only for a while, then I just tried it, and it worked!
