I think that there shoud be a balance between the two. While it's true that no one should be 'babied' through the MPC learning process, we all have different levels of understanding and digesting information. Who of us can honestly say that we didn't take the 'easy route' once or twice when we were confronted with a problem on the 'MP' and wanted someone to just figure the problem out for us by giving us an answer (eg. that call to Akai in the early days when we were in a jam) ? Comprehension is aquired through time and effort, but sometimes we might just need that little 'nudge' to get our creative juices going and then, when we see the results, we get inspired to really learn, have fun, and 'freak' the machine ourselves ! I definitely think reading the manual is a vital part of the learning essentials, but not the only part. None of us are obligated to help anyone out, but we should always remember that we 'MPC-ites" weren't always as adept at using the machine and recall that what seems so simple to us right now, wasn't always 'so simple'. So I think that we owe it to ourselves and to the newbs to lend a 'helping hand', as well as direct them to the manual and all of the various other ways that they can aquire info. Remember that old saying, "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime." I think sometimes we have to do a little of both. Who knows, one day they may come back and really teach us a few things out of appreciation for our patience and persistence as we're trying to understand how to use our new MPC 9000 Ultra, {you know, the one that loads all of the latest software programs into the MPC ! - [no, not a Neko] } Oooooops ........... - Sorry for the lenghty post guyz. to all those that supported me thank you....i agree with those that dont mind lending a helping hand and its ashame that others cant....of course i read the manual first this problem has been going on for awhile now....and i just got sick and tired of it...so bascially its not as simple as some of u might think...one guy said its playing the last pad i hit so just touch the new pad well thanks for not tell me RTM and trying to help but that wasnt the problem....but some of u guys got serious problems and idk y youll gotta act like that if u dont wanna help then just be quiet thats all...for those of you that want to help....basically my problem is i have my my note repeat button remember the last pad i hit and when i go to use it with another pad it wont work....even if i just press play and play my track and just hit note repeat w.e the last pad will just play non stop until i hit note repeat....its hard to expain in typing but hopefully u guys get me

do you have 16 levels turned on as well? does it get stuck on note repeat or you just can't play any other sounds with note repeat?

i dont think i had 16 levels on but next time it happens i will see if it is....and it doesnt get stuck on note repeat but instead the last sound i trigger gets stuck on note repeat and stays there so at that point anytime i hit note repeat its there whether its a kick or a snare or w.e etc

MPC 101......I didn't go through all the posts but basically note repeat needs to be turned on each time you start recording (it turns off automatically when you stop your sequence). It works just as well with external MIDI gear as internal sounds. Once you enable note repeat any sample, voice from external gear etc will repeat at the tempo selected as long as you hold down the pad or key etc on your controller. A red LED indicates note repeat is on....pressing the button a second time disables note repeat (the LED goes out) The function can be used during playback as well. MIDI data already recorded will remain unchanged. It is not required to enable "note repeat" during playback to hear what you have already recorded......

if the mpc track isnt set to rec'v midi info, when u hit a key on the keyboard, the sound of the key ur hitting will play, along with the sound that is loaded on the corrosponding pad.
does that make sence?

yeah, that's what I thought, but it doesn't seem like that's what's happening, he keeps saying his last sounds stays on note repeat, i'm trying to figure out what he means it seemed like a simple question but he is insisting we are missing the point, so i'm trying to figure it out, exactly what he has going on.....

yo fader pro....yes 2 pages for this...is there a problem? if u dont want to help or think ur too educated for something u think is so simple then shutup....like i said thats not the problem ive had an mpc for a few years now the 2500 1k and 4k as well as the mv 8k im no dummy i know and understand simple stuff and i have people that im close with that have gear and ive asked them and they dont know y either....but for those of you that tried to help thank saint joe was right the problem u think im having im not its not that but its very h ard to explain but i called the people that make my keyboard and they helped me.....great tec support 2 am in the morning....people that dont mind helping unlike some of u guys on here that think youll know it all and ur music aint going nowhere....but anyway for those of you that care the problem is gone for now...thanks

thanks man...really idk...i called dude and the problem just stopped like it wasnt happening...so maybe wat i think was trigerring it wasnt so next time it happens i have to pay close attention and see wat it is....if i find a definite reason that causes it and the problem i will let you know...
