So you adjust velo>start = 85-100 somewhere and then velo>level = 0 and turn on 16 levels of velocity.

This works, all you need to remember is to have it set to note off and you've got a quick, non destructive chop.

Nice.

However it seems hard (impossible even?) to get the spread even with 16 levels on. It seems more exponential, with less and less space between each start point the higher the pad is.

what would be cool is if you could put a copy of the sample on all the pads, then assign your own velocity to that pad (ie assign a start point). Is there any way of doing this?

Anyway, props to nanoloop - i just thought i woud air this thing out in its own thread. Nice to see so many aussies on the forum!

yeh it can be a bit hit or miss, there is alot of melbournites on this board. im actually in torquay, lazying it up by the beach.

this was by no means a replacement for actual chopping, just a different way to variate a sample.

it really comes into play when you use step edit to change the velocity of each hit. as such minute changes are harder to replicate by hitting the pads.
