Can you adjust the velocity of the pads? Besides the 100 to 200 percent function. When I strike a pad the velocity wont go below 10! :x

not that i know! btw: congratulations, with a velocity of 10 you equalized my personal record!

i always leave that sensitivity at 100%! - would be nice to have the possibility to set that lower sometimes! => step edit helps!

Nothing helps! All samples in the 4k's memory are too loud.. When I turn the velocity of a sample or track to 1, I still hear the sample too loud.

Now, when I trigger external gear with the 4k's pads, the velocity seems to be ok..

Am I doing something wrong? In another thread someone mentioned to normalize every sample, but it (off course) only makes things worse..

Its really hard to make a delay effect with the pads' velocity, like this.

hy ikke

i don't think normalizing s gonna help you! it will just make your samples louder! try to mess instead of that with program modulation! lots of crazy things goin on there! for example to reduce the loudness of your sounds you could set velocity (m source) to modulate your amplitude (m dest)!

good luck

btw: if all samples are too loud also check your master level setting in global page! well, i have it at 0 db (maximum)! not too loud for me, maybe in your setup it could be ... dunno just an idea! but before reducing that check first the levels at your mixer! ... and first of all i'd try with program modulation!

I have all my shit up pretty loud, mainly cause Im trying to fill up all that headroom, but just go to multi and turn the volume of the program down or listen to alto, he dropped some good info there

Normalizing is only going to bring the volume of your samples to peak

I find that I fix all my velocity probs editing in step edit highlight the desired note(s) and press edit then either add or sub values to the velocity, ie bring everything down by 10........
not sure if that will help but I use this function alot to smooth things out and sht...
also ill play stuf and then just add 20 to 40 to the velocity cos I think I play the pads better if im not concentrating on bashing em'

u could also try velocity fading ur layers/samples ,you can get some nice results, with the right samples

Thx Altpiano! The program modulation was the problem indeed. :D

you're welcom ikke!

... but don't diss the beautyful prog modulation window! its one of the best ones within the 4k and i have a question to it right away

well the problem is i simply don't understand two mod. sources: tilt velo and off velocity! haven't found an explanation in the manual as well as in hte ref. manual! wtf do they mean?

i often use them, and on some programs they are preset anyway! it would just be nice to know what i use there! probably for each native english the terms explain themselves! well, off velocity i guess is the opposite of velocity, isn't it (somethin like how strong/fast one leaves the pads?) and tilt for me is a term used for describing the physical/mental situation after a bottle of vodka and some spliffs! now what should that mean for my prog modulation?

please could someone translate or put it down for me?

thanx in advance

tilt velocity might have something to do with that double trigger thing the pads do, the flam or whateva its called. I'll check it out tonight.

I think it would be to do with hitting the pads with a flat finger to one side or something.... I could just be making it up.

thanx boywithpez2007! much appreciate your response! .... (don't get me wrong) but i still have doubts about it... could anyone please clear that tilt velocity thing? (off velocity if possible aswell!)

thanx in advance

sup headz,
first up mod soruce "Off Velo"...
when a key is pressed on a midi keyboard a note on message is sent ,the first part off this message specifies type
the second part has two elements pitch(note number) and the velocity(strength or speed) of the event,
when a key is released a midi note off message is sent (first part of message)
again the second part has pitch(note nunber) and the velocity(speed/strength) of the release.

so if you select velocity note off as a modulation source, u would be using the midi note off velocity to affect the destination ...

make sense?
Vel tilt is a tricky one. im not sure, gonna check it out more 2night, not with my 4k but
maybe it refers to the changes in velocity between note on and off messages,so u could use the difference/changes between the two values to modulate a source???

thanx a lot raveal! much appreciate your explanation! off velocity is now def. clear to me , tilt velocity nearly ... but sounds reasonable that it is the one between note on and off! if anyone has an explanation for that one aswell would be again much appreciated!
