I have used several other boxes like the ASR & Yamaha RS7000.
The MPC 1000 chops & edits the audio about as fast as my cpu.
Trust me chopping or stretching sucks on old boxes w/ slow processing power. I would rate the 1000 well over my older XL w/ JJOS.
The 2500 is better I admit but after playing with it I can't say the Pads are worth an extra 1000.
The 1000 is fine for pro beats as long as you take advantage of the outs.
(Use the stereo outs as 5 & 6.)
The polyphony on the 1000 is low. If you run out & your using multiple outs resampling is out of the question & will kill your workflow for certain.
I'd like to have double polyphony out of my 1000.
Can you explain to me what the advantages polyphonywise are of a 2000XL vs a 1000? I'm going to cop a 1000 or a 2000XL this week but was leaning toward the 1K since the Hardrive option and the faster time stretch, and not to mention the JJ OS. What do you think is the better machine??
I make music & don't get into specs so much.
I'm on the forum to learn about jjos.
The 1k is like lightning bolt when you chop samples or edit compared to the 2k xl.
It's no comparison!
CF is so much better than a floppy or zip disk also.
The 2k xl's advantages are bigger pads & a hinged screen.
I didn't even pay attention to polyphony until I began running out.
Even if you buy the 2500 it is still the same though.
Guys like "nym" know way more about features & specs than I ever will.
I have no use to learn them.
PM him he is cool.
I don't think anyone on this board would say get the xl over a 1k though.
It cost more & does the same stuff slower & w/ worse saving options.
When you factor in jjos2 the 1k does mad more stuff.
Not to say you cant make hits on the xl, people still do, but if your buying 1 new it is the 1k without a doubt.
If your looking used then thats up to you based on price & condition.
