play with the bpm up or down until it loops perfect

you can also go into slice, set slice points and convert it to a patched phrase which will follow whatever bpm you're set at. At least I know you can in jj os2.

or, if you've chopped your sample note by note, you don't have to worry about the original bpm...

OK.. Thanks..
Thought there was a "real" way of doing it... In alot of softwares u just find 4 bars and then there is usually a feature that finds the tempo for u...
Nothing like that?

go to trim, chop, slice, hit slice again and play with the data wheel to decrease the slice regions. when you think you've found the tempo points click edit then hit f3 - convert to patched phrase. It will tell you an estimated "Original Tempo." Once you have that you can close out and change your tempo. Don't hit do it unless you want to turn the sample into a phrase. It's really not that many steps once you've done it a couple times.

Other than that you're stuck with tap tempo. Helps with your rhythm skills anyway.

uhhhhhh i didnt know pushing a button on software (not doing any real work to find the bpm) is real? sorry the mpc doesnt have a button that says bpm detector, next thing you will want to kno is if you can speak to the mpc and say make me break beat, or you will want a turntable that all you have to do is put a vinyl on the top and push a button that says find cool drum beat, bass line etc then automatically loop and slice it for me and arrange it in many different ways.... and thus it happens, geez you get all of these ways of doing it (tap tempo, slice, patch phrase) and you still complain

and another thing if your using software to do it then why dont you just sell your mpc and go back to software (then there would be another less lazy kat on here)

cut your sample till its a perfect loop then go in trim edit window, then go to time stretch and push tempo, set the number of beats and push manual it will go back to the time stretch window and display the "Original tempo"
Try it!
Peace!

lol didnt realise u wanted to go to trim and press a button and that calculation would be the "real" bpm

i personally find tap tempo is always much closer.

and yeh if its drums Chop! make teh sample work to you dont be a slave to the sample

HAHA!
This guy is hilarious! He obviously spend more time jerking off than actually making music. No offense to the nerds out there.. But please focus on the music, and not what equipment u mess with. Maybe even this guy would actually make a hot song one day if he did.. I mess with whatever equipment I can get my hands on and I did joints with Black Rob, Joe Budden, Das Efx, OGC, Stack Bundles, Tony Sunshine and the list goes on, so I must be doing something right....

To everybody that tried to answer my question.. I appreciate it!

P.S. My bad for letting this little girl "xibalba1875" change the topic on us real music producers on this forum.
