Is their anyway to sample while the sequencer is running ala asr10.

do you mean sample an external source or sample the sequencer itself.

oh ok. well not with the akai os. you can with jj, i'm pretty positive you can. you can just record an audio track while the sequence is playing, so for example you can record scratching that you are doing live, into the mpc. i think that is what you are after.

you don't even need to use an audio track - you can just do it from the regular RECORD screen
I do it all the time to record synth parts -- and I find that the normal record screen (with loop set to OFF temporarily) works far better than audio tracks, as it allows you to record the tail end of the sample instead of just cutting off when the sequence ends as it does in audio tracks
lets you get a much better sounding loop

Its actully mad simple. I use it to record external synths.
1. turn the loop off in the sequence that you are using.
2. go to the record page and select the input.
3. press start on your sequencer and play your external sounds/scratches whatever
this will record the external sounds as a single sample. I program midi basslines and synths in the MP then get the sounds from an external synth. you can then just trigger the sample as a one shot.
