Personally I don't care for the silver thingy on the 5k though. Might as well give it some wooden panels to jazz it up a bit! 8)

I was wondering the same thing too. It would be nice if you could easily remove the side panels to add some wood grain.

I believe these past few MPCs were all made in Taiwan. I was beginning to believe that the MPC 5000 was completely made and programmed in the US. There is no mention of the Akai MPC 5000 on the Japanese Akai site.

...and the extra RAM as well~!

Not complaining though. Who wouldn't wanna score some extra cash if they had the legit upper hand?

8) Great NguoiDuc!!!
Especially the good old cursive/italic logo on the wooden panel, this looks so much more dynamic to me! :D

The MPC 2500 aka MPC 1000XL is yesterday's news. I would simply opt for an MPC 5000 and a z4/z8..or better yet, any of the leading software samplers out now for an incredible combo. Motu Mach 5 II (http://www.motu.com/products/software/m ... res20.html) has the ability to let you assign most of its perimeters to MIDI CC. A key feature of the MPC 5000 is its numerous Q-link sliders and knobs which send MIDI CC commands  Even the soon to be release Emu Emulator X3 with its 24-bit/192kHz sampling engine (yes, it actually samples too) and Z-plane filters can't be touched by any hardware sampler in terms of features and power.....

Just me 2 1/2 cents because people in this forum spend way too much time writing about why they wouldn't get this MPC. That is way too much time dedicated to something people don't care for.

So the point of this thread is that some are not impressed with the way it looks...they say it looks cheap. Well, it looks exactly the MPC 2500 with a larger LCD and more room added for the Q-link sliders and knobs. The MPC 2500, which I own, is not cheaply built...minus the thin metal plate underneath the unit.

Well, I think the silver panels look pretty much like something massive, like metal orthe likes....

But when I get the machine I might be tempted to disassemble the panels and give to a carpenter to make some nice solid wood ones....and gettin black pads should be easy, too. So no payin forat 700$ to get the job done!

Also..I can't understand the talk about thw build of the MPC 5000 or 2500. The MPC 2000 and 2000XL are not built to a higher standard than these newer MPCs.[/quote]
even from 2k to 2k xl there`s a big difference in building Quality, the wheel talks for itself.........
