Yeah, I guess none of those guys drums move me too much. I've actually heard drums from Kev Brown on the 2kxl that have that sound similar to SP12 drums but not as open. Plus I'm not really up on the whole Kanye style of beats. Like "the corner" beat he did was nice, but the drums didn't rock so much as the music.
When I listen to something like the U.N. (say Game of Death), to me THOSE are goddamn drums. You can't really get that from an ASR, and it wouldn't be worth it to try.
IMO drums on the ASR can knock and slap really hard but the sequencer is one of the most stiff, un-groovy sequencers ever. The "biggest" names on that list up there pair the ASR with an MPC for sequencing.That must be they're edge...
