I havent done beat detection algorithm yet, but I will work on that soon. It will be able to work with the mpc1000 soon, and if the file format is the same for the 2500 then that as well, its literally a one hour change. I wont be able to test these machines though which could get a bit tedious, I might need to IM someone with them to do testing. Send the jjos format my way and I will look at it and put it in with these other updates when I get around to it. Currently the program automatically exports all wavs with a pgm file (and a midi file for a chopped sequence), one step ahead!
I dont know about charging for this, I think/hope it will be useful to people and obviously I wouldnt be adverse to money for my efforts, but the reason I thought of it initially (in this thread) is because recycle is a rip off. I know from a business point of view I would be better off charging for it, because if people pay $1000 for an mpc, they can obviously play $10 for something which improves the experience, and i'm sure I could make a reasonable return that way. However, as a student I bought the mpc 500 because it was the only one I could afford (other than a poor condition standard 2000), and I want this program to improve the functionality for 500 users like me who aspire to using the higher end models. I hope that if people feel that this program has improved their workflow and/or reduced time spent doing menial tasks rather than making music, then they would feel that it was worth a donation; whatever they think that my time and effort was worth to them. (And I'm not trying to make people feel guilty into donating here, I just dont feel that software should be sold as a commodity) Call it shareware if you like, but with no nag screens or pricing model.
