i agree haze,i think programs like acid an ableton live take the skill and fun out of it its to easy to just load up some loops an go i did that,ya can write a tune in about 5 mins, without moving anything but a mouse.....is that a good thing?
i know someone that writes all his music in reason ,and he hasnt even got a midi controller of any type,so i ask myself how does he play his beats,
the truth is he doesnt, all he does is drag round loops that have already been cut up for him,to me that just doesnt make sense to me wheres the performance in that?.
sometimes it feels like, the more software sequencer technology advances the less of a role performance seems to play...and more and more automated features pop up to save you time, the less input the user has.
Im left wondering what Pc/macs will be like in ten years,is the software music technology of the future going to focus on performance?i doubt it very much if this kind of the software boom carries on..,,is it killing music from a traditional point of view?...one thing for sure us mpc users will carry on banging out the beats till they break...or maybe im going off on one''?
