..::.:: "FL Studio & Acid Pro 4.0" VS. "MPC 4000" ::.::..

I have two lil' programs that I use on my pc called FL Studio (www.fruityloops.com) and Acid Pro 4.0. I've been thinkin about gettin a MPC 4000 for a while especially, when I heard my favorite producer (Kanye West) said he uses one in an interview. So I wanna ask all you MPC users, how is the MPC compared to a computer program like FL Studio or Acid Pro 4.0??

LOL. Coo. Y'all be hittin' me back quick as hell like this IM. So,... what samples would you recommend (kicks, hats, snares, claps, percs, and etc.)? I was thinking about mpcsound(s).com [it's bogus as hell how they try to censor the url]. Which ones do you think are the best? Do you recognize any of the kick, hats, or snares that Kanye use from any particular kit that you've ever heard of used?

buyin sounds is lame...kinda lazt too IMO. I have much more satisfaction creating a drum sound of hardly anything.

Can call me dumb, slow or whatever but, what is "VINYL"? I've heard that term many times but I dunno know what it is. I'm only familiar with FL Studio and Acid Pro 4.0, so can you enlighten me? Is it good to use MPC 4000 with Pro Tools?

buying sounds is no different than buying a sound mod. when I get some money im gonna buy sounds instead just down loading the testers off of peoples sites. just because you buy a sound doent mean you have to use it stock...once you get them youare going to wanna change them up with your own personal touch anyway. sh!t to me buying vinly to sample is just like buying sounds. imo unless you are out making and building drums and inst. (by hand) you are buying sounds because you paid money for something that one youyou didnt make it and two you werent the first to use'em

One thing though the MPC is a drum machine. If you are crazy for drums and rhythms it is the most expressive hand drums no doubt !!! Now coming from the software sequencer world the arranging loops and samples on the MPC is a little more shall we say hands on with extra steps compared with using a mouse drag and drop see. And some of the visual feedback with a large monitor is lacking but the plus side is you learn to use your ears more and you with learn more about musicial notes. Last up by least I truely believe that the MPC or keyboard allows one to put more feel (expression of the hits, timing, and dynamics) into one`s music than any software could.

i agree haze,i think programs like acid an ableton live take the skill and fun out of it its to easy to just load up some loops an go i did that,ya can write a tune in about 5 mins,without moving anything but a mouse.....is that a good thing?

i know someone that writes all his music in reason ,and he hasnt even got a midi controller of any type,so i ask myself how does he play his beats,
the truth is he doesnt, all he does is drag round loops that have already been cut up for him,to me that just doesnt make sense to me wheres the performance in that?.

sometimes it feels like,the more software sequencer technology advances the less of a role performance seems to play...and more and more automated features pop up to save you time,the less input the user has.

Im left wondering what Pc/macs will be like in ten years,is the software music technology of the future going to focus on performance?i doubt it very much if this kind of the software boom carries on..,,is it killing music from a traditional point of view?...one thing for sure us mpc users will carry on banging out the beats till they break...or maybe im going off on one':lol:'?

Wow, that's something to think about.

I pretty sure people thought the same thing about synths and samplers alike but people still use real drums and and real horns and real piano in there music and concerts. Trust me not to worry about the fate of musical creativity.
