Yeah sounds thin and weak but whats more concerning for you, is that the beat is god awful, but keep practicing.

That's a bit harsh!

Harsh but true.

The kid can practice, it takes time.

i think it is perhaps his choice of samples/ sounds that people may not like.

i think he defintely has the skills already. Personally the sounds/style used wasn't wat my taste but i think if he used sounds to my taste he has the skills to make beats i would like no doubt.

Run your samples thru real samplers, not these new plastic drum machines.

Are you saying that the 1k/2.5k sounds worst than the 2kxl? Cause it is my opinion that the 2k series MPC's are the least desirable, sonically speaking. I use to own a 2k and that shit sounded like the bad Mp3 of MPC's to me. When I had the 1k I dug it's sound much better.

Thin? not warm?
Yeah, this new generation mpc's don't colour ur samples like the old samplers. You'll get what u sample. A kick drum in my 1k sounds just like the record. (flat, with no eq)
Same kick (also flat) in my s900 sounds nice, warm and booming.
If I use my eq properly and do some layering and tuning in my 1k, it sounds good too. It's just another way to treat ur samples before and after sampling.

Some people on here are under the impression that EQ isnt neccesary before sampling into the MPC and they downplay its importance. Hence their upset with the final sound that they get.
Ive been using a 2k for six years now, and im more than satisfied with the overall sound. But that being said, I always make it a priority to EQ to my liking before recording into the MPC. The difference between a dry sample with no EQ and one that has been equalized is night and day.
In summary though, what im saying is theirs not much you can do about the set 16 bit sample rate of a 2k, but their is so much that you can do about shaping a samples sound before it goes into the MPC.

As far as trading in your 1k for a 2k, thats likes trading in a phantom for a pinto.

LOL dont do it!
