But, these are still fairly new, with newer technology. When I bought my 3000 I knew and had to live with fact that the OS was not going to have future updates and bug fixes.
It's amazing, I don't recall any other manufactor, like say, Roland, allowing former employees or third party companies writting software like this for products that are still supported.
Hundreds of suggestions to improve the 4k was sent into Akai an ignored, when it was a supported product. Akai not doing anything
to improve their currently shipping products, is generally par for the course.
Hmm.. who said that Akai is allowing it? I bet if you were to tell Akai who JJ was (or is if it's a group of people) they would LOVE you.
At this point, I'm sure they are fairly aware of who in Akai Japan who was fired that had the ability to obtain the Source Code and also
the ability to modify the source code to be better then the originally. It could only be a handful of people in the size of company that
Akai is. But you can't arrest somebody because you "think" somebody took code. You pretty much have to have proof. Until then,
we all benefit from somebody who cares for the product. The JJS OS, especially the new 2XL with it's Chord features, is seriously making
me consider using 2 MPC 1000's for my live set rather then a 4000 and leave the 4000 for home. I'd have to use 2 1000's because
of the RAM limitations on those machines. But 2 MPC's 1000 coupled with a Midibox Clockbox would basically mean that I could play all night long without stop and not have to reload every 512M. SO he's making them money, so they might want him to continue
making OS"s
I just personally wished, he had yanked the 4k OS as well.
And saying that they are still supported is being nice to Akai and indicating that they actually provide support for their products... some of the responses that I"ve gotten from Nukai's email services are joke.
Cheers,
