Not exactly a pimped out MPC 1k by itself, but I did make a new stand by hand for it. Got a few more alterations to do to the MPC before I finish 'er up.
The MPC itself has the pad upgrade, the blue LCD (which I find much more readable at angles than the original green) and a few LED replacements. No mods for the Kaoss Pad 2 or the Virus, but those might come. I'd actually like to swap out the KP2 for a KP3 (or 4 if they are announced), but I'll need to wait for the funds to show up for those.
The speakers are some tiny Sony 5W speakers, I'll probably replace them with something a bit more high end for real monitoring, but I had been using them for a more portable (since they are battery or outlet powered) solution.
The biggest issue I've had with the setup so far is the midi on the KP2 doesn't allow for a soft thru (apparently), so I can't chain the virus and the kp2 together to have an extra midi in/out available. Instead I had to use 1 in/out for the virus to send midi and record controller changes and the same for the kp2. So unfortunately I have all midi connections used. I'm going to have to check if the kp3 has a soft midi through or not as this would make the setup a bit more optimal for me.
Things I'm considering to add... a 2 or 4 track pocket recorder would be kind of handy to have for recording those sessions that you want to play around but might stumble on something useful/cool to use in the future. I'd also like some way of having a large PMP or other kind of storage for holding loops/samples and being able to play them time stretched (higher quality than the MPC), but barring a computer of some sort I'm not sure what this would really be. Preferably the recorder could also function as a large storage/time stretcher, but I'm not really holding my breath on that. I've got a few stomp boxes that might make there way into here, or a sonic alienator would be cool. Really I'm mostly trying to keep computers of the mix for now.
