i could be wrong but this doesn't sound right. i sell 1000w grow lights and they only run 4.8amps @ 240v. i don't see why 19w would run at 12.6amps, maybe 1.26amps sounds more like it to me. i don't care either way though, i wouldn't use an external battery unless it was approved by akai. good luck.
hmm i'm not too sure i got it right now. i know that Power=Current x Voltage, but it could be that heat losses in the transformer add to the current used if measured at the mains plug.
also the formula would probably be best applied at the output of the transformer, but you'd also need to know the power requirements of the actual mpc ie without the mains transformer.
