There's a reason why Akai doesnt have an official forum... same reason why Roland got rid of their official forum. They can't deal with the truth, the facts, the criticism, the bug reports, the failure to maintain any established communicationb with their paying customers. And don't tell me otherwise because i've been there.
There has never been any proof that Akai even reads this forum, just an assumption people tend to make.
I know of atleast 2 akai employess who actually post here. One of them is an ex-akai employee (he used to work for them before they went under a few years ago. The other one gave himself away by the cumberland rhode island location (which isnt in his profile anymore). Theres more that lurk here as well, but i cant tell you how i know that.
Bugs should be reported to Akai not run around this forum like that's the same thing as reporting it to Akai.
Bugs are reported on a daily basis to Akai from many forum members in this (2500) forum, as well as the 4000 forum.
You really speak from a strange point talking about Akai crippling a product.
No. I speak from a REALISTIC standpoint, KNOWING what the CPU in the 1000 and 2500 is capable of (well before JJ even came into the picture).
It's what the product was designed to do and who it was designed to sell to.
Bull$hit... JJ already put a hole in your theory!
So a Maxima and Altima should be the same vehicle???
No. becasue they have different engines. Guess what? The 1000 and the 2500 have THE SAME engine (CPU). Wanna prove me wrong?
No, but either serves as transportation.
See my response above. Your point is moot.
Use some logic Akai is not trying to design one MPC they design various units at various prices that serve different people.
Here's some logic for ya...
You've been brainwashed by advertising hype if you actually believe that. It's all about competition with other companies (Roland, Yamaha, etc.) in order to protect the bottom line... PROFITS! This is nothing new. It's been going on with all the big companies for the past 3 decades or so, and it'll continue for as long as this earth keeps rotating.
When Akai upgrades the Boot ROM in the 2500 and links it to the Flash sector it will prevent a hacked OS from being able to run.
Very simple and already being tested.
I call bull$hit again. Unless you work for Akai, you couldn't prove this to be factual at all. If anything, it sounds like a poor attempt to intimidate third party developers.... and it aint happening there, Bill Gates (or is is Sean Shea?)! :p
MPC's have always had the ability to run a boot loader, the difference was that it was directly linked to the Boot ROM, they stepped away from that and they saw their firsted hacked MPC OS.
I still call bull$hit. You got a credible source??? I highly doubt it!
The question will be if they just do a cut in on the production line or make it a revised version like 2500 plus or 2500xl.
The
real question is, have you ever heard of the phrase "cutting your nose to spite your face"? That's what Akai would be doing if that were true.
Will have no affect on 2500 sales it will only prevent hacked OS's.
I gotta go put my boots on, cause the bull$hit's piling up
really high now! :p
As for the file work around I'm still not convinced it not something that people unknowly do.
I have used my 2500 w/ the 40g Toshiba, 512CF, CD-M25 and Akai 128 heavly and have never had any problems saving, creating folders or anything to my HD.
The unit sees at least 18 hours of work a day.
I never use the USB and only install the CF card when I am saving to it, I never just leave it in the unit mounted.
I always save the entire memory to a new folder since I work on songs not beats and I always purge unused samples so all my saved samples are part of a Program.
Maybe I'm just lucky but it seems I would be more likely to see it since I am constantly doing stuff.
*YAWN*
18 hours a day, my ass! That leaves you with 6 hours a day to eat, sleep, $hit, shower, and shave. What about work? How do you fit THAT into your schedule? Don't tell me your one of the many here that "work in the industry", cause I'll still call bull$hit unless you can actually prove that or ANYTHING that just spewed outta your fingertips! You done now? Or do I gotta go grab myself a clothes-pin to put over my nose... cause it REEKS of bull$hit in this thread now! :p
